The original building of The Montenotte Hotel was formerly home to a Merchant Prince of Cork, over 200 years ago. A hidden treasure for decades, the Victorian Sunken Garden was discovered in 2017 beneath layers of overgrowth, but has been lovingly restored to its original glory since.

The restoration of the gardens was led by landscape architect Dominik Cullinane Garden Designs and is maintained all year-round by a team of talented gardeners.

Surprising and delightful, the Victorian Sunken Gardens are an unexpected treat for guests. A natural sanctuary overlooking Cork city, they offer a tranquil space to wander and breath in the aromatic scents of lavender, myrtle and rosemary. The soothing sound of the central fountain promotes a sense of instant calm and relaxation, making it a perfect place to decompress after a busy day of work or play.
