Did you know that the modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908! Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew's Methodist Church in West Virginia which now holds the International Mother's Day Shrine. Her campaign to make Mother's Day a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905 as she wanted to tribute her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honour all mothers because she believed a mother is "the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world".

It is very true that a mother’s work is truly never done, so we all know that the reason we have Mother’s Day is to celebrate at least once a year the incredible mother. Here at the award-winning Montenotte Hotel ,we have given a lot of thought in to gift ideas for Mother’s Day. Rather than the traditional gifts of flowers and chocolates, give your mum a gift she will cherish forever, simply create a memory. This Mother’s Day, set a date, choose her gift and enjoy the precious and unique moments together.

By Jennifer McCarthy, The Bellevue Spa Manager

Modern research is showing us that making even the slight adjustments to the way we inhale, and exhale can halt allergies, asthma and autoimmune disease and even rejuvenate internal organs and improve overall health.

What is considered as medically normal today is anywhere from twelve to twenty breaths a minute. The key to optimum breathing for our health, endurance and longevity benefits is to practice fewer inhales and exhales in smaller volumes. We need to practice slow breathing and aim for 5.5 breaths per minute.
