The Montenotte Hotel reviewed by HotelReviewsIreland.com

The Montenotte Hotel has received a five star review from HotelReviewsIreland.com. Below are a few excerpts from the review:

"The first thing that really stands out at the Montenotte Hotel is the staff and this continued to be the story throughout my stay. I was welcomed by a team of beaming and helpful receptionists who told me about the facilities on offer and where to find my room."

"There is a Tapas and Snack menu that runs all day and I chose the golden fried calamari with roasted red pepper remoulade sauce, and a glass of Pinot Grigio."

The U2 Connection

On the of 4th February 1980, U2 performed in the hotel as part of their U2-3 Irish/London Tour. The set-list included the tracks Cartoon World, Boy-Girl, Out of Control, Trevor, Twilight, Another Day, The Dream is Over and Shadows & Tall Trees.

Internationally renowned music photographer David Corio was present at the gig and the hotel have sourced a couple of photographs taken on the night which they plan to display in the hotel lobby in the new year. When the U218 album was released Brian thought he recognised the view as that from the hotel, with Cork City centre in the background. He managed to contact photographer David Corio and David confirmed that the image was taken on the roof of the hotel in early February 1980. The same image was also used as the cover shot of the bands own book U2 by U2 published in 2006.
