The festival which began in 2005 in the Cork Showgrounds and has since moved to the more spacious Docklands has been host to some of the greatest artsists in the world, both current and vintage including Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Meat Loaf, Neil Young as well as Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lady Gaga and this trend looks set to continue.

The Live at The Marquee 2010 festival, which will return to Cork this June as the line up proves to be as star studed as ever with even more acts to be announced over the coming weeks and months.

CORK TO COBH 15 MILE ROAD RACE

The Montenotte Hotel took part in the 'Cork to Cobh' Road Race. This race was organised by the 'BHAA' www.corkbhaa.com.

The race was a huge success with in excess of 600 entries and a spectacular sunny day for running.

The U2 Connection

On the of 4th February 1980, U2 performed in the hotel as part of their U2-3 Irish/London Tour. The set-list included the tracks Cartoon World, Boy-Girl, Out of Control, Trevor, Twilight, Another Day, The Dream is Over and Shadows & Tall Trees.

Internationally renowned music photographer David Corio was present at the gig and the hotel sourced a couple of photographs taken on the night which are on display in the hotel lobby. The photographer confirmed that the image was taken on the roof of the hotel in early February 1980. The same image was also used as the cover shot of the bands own book U2 by U2 published in 2006.
